First-time homebuyers have become older in age, which is not what you would expect. It used to be that the people who were buying their first home were younger couples who were just starting their families. But now, between the transfer taxes and closing costs, it has gotten prohibitively expensive for younger couples to buy a home in Maryland.

With nearly 15 years of experience dedicated to real estate, Francis brings a wealth of knowledge to her industry, and, in particular, to her area of expertise, the sale of foreclosure and residential properties in Northern Maryland and Southern Pennsylvania. When asked why she decided to pursue a career in real estate, Francis said:

"I saw the process of my parents buying and selling homes so many times in my life that it was kind of a no-brainer to get into the field. One day, my dad asked me if I wanted to pursue a real estate license with him and it all just clicked."

As a thought-leader in her field, Francis makes sure to stay on top of the latest trends within her local market. In particular, she notes the change in age demographic of first-time homebuyers:

"First-time homebuyers have become older in age, which is not what you would expect. It used to be that the people who were buying their first home were younger couples who were just starting their families. But now, between the transfer taxes and closing costs, it has gotten prohibitively expensive for younger couples to buy a home in Maryland."

Outside of the office, Francis is involved in donation drives for the Boys and Girls Club and the Maryland Food Bank. She is also a member of both the National and Maryland Associations of REALTORS® and her office belongs to the Hampstead Business Association and the Main Street Merchant Association.
